Keeping Your Bathroom Warm (Without Blinding Your Kids)
Let’s be honest: nobody likes stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom. It’s the worst. But when you’re picking up a baby or a toddler, you need more than just a blast of heat. You need it to be safe. Most infrared lamps are blinding. They put out this harsh, white light that feels like a spotlight in your eyes. That’s not great for adults, and it’s definitely not okay for a baby’s sensitive eyes. To fix this, we use special coatings on the quartz glass. It basically filters out that aggressive blue light and shifts the focus to the infrared side of things. You still get all the warmth, but the light stays soft. It’s a gentle glow instead of a glare. Now, since these live in bathrooms, steam is the enemy. We use IP-rated seals to make sure no moisture sneaks into the electronics. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament wrapped in a halogen-filled tube. The halogen part is a neat trick—it lets the filament run hotter without burning out. The result? You feel that cozy, concentrated heat on your skin the second you turn it on. If you’re installing these yourself, there are two things to keep in mind. First, because of the filters and the waterproofing, the glass might feel a bit cooler to the touch than an industrial lamp, but the pressure inside is higher. Second, make sure your wiring is up to the task. These lamps pull a bit of a surge when they first kick in. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, you’ll wear out the filament way faster than you should. We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements for your existing fixtures. It’s all about that balance. You get the heat you want, and the kids don’t have to squint.
