Why it’s time to ditch those old bathroom light heaters

An IP44 rating is just a fancy way of saying the unit can handle water splashing from any direction without freaking out. We use sealed gaskets and recessed terminals to keep the guts of the machine dry. Old light warmers usually skip this kind of sealing. The result? They corrode, they flicker, and eventually, they just stop working. Then there’s the actual heat. Most heaters try to warm up the air. But here’s the thing: air is terrible at holding onto heat. Because these units are sealed tight to keep water out, they don’t “breathe” as much as an open fixture would. Just make sure your bathroom has decent ventilation. If the air is totally stagnant, the unit might hit its thermal limit and shut itself off to stay safe. Also, keep in mind that “water-resistant” doesn’t mean “waterproof.” Don’t go dunking it in the tub. Getting it installed is the easy part. These are designed to slide right into the spot where your old ceiling light used to be. You get rid of that annoying glare and replace it with actual, targeted warmth.
